After a disastrous start to the 2020 F1 season, the 2021 calendar is also at risk of becoming a victim of the coronavirus pandemic. Australia's Grand Prix is already in jeopardy and China, too, now seems to be becoming difficult.
According to Motorsport-Total.com, the promoter in Shanghai, Juss Event, has indicated in a press conference that they are actively postponing the date for the Chinese Grand Prix, preferably to the second half of the season.

'Formula 1 will not be surprised'

Yibin Yang of Juss Event says the following: "It is very doubtful that we will get a race off the ground in the first half of the year. Our goal is to move it to the second half of the season. We have made a formal request in the hope of postponing the race."
Yang says he has weekly talks with Formula 1 about the state of affairs, so this will not come as a surprise to them. So there will probably already have been discussions with possible replacements. Motorsport-Total thinks these are Portimao and Imola. Portugal's Grand Prix would then be held on 11 April and there could be a race in Imola on 25 April.
