Signing for Alpine F1 Team, Pierre Gasly has mutually terminated his association with the Red Bull family in order to make the move. This forms an all French lineup alongside Esteban Ocon in the grid's only French manufacturer.
Speaking to F1.com: "driving for a team that has French roots is something very special". He states that the "progress and ambition is very impressive" and thus was an enticing move.
After a brief promotion to the main Red Bull team, his return to Torro Rosso/AlphaTauri had shown a remarkable turn in form. Claiming his first podium in the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix and his first win at the 2020 Italian Grand Prix, it was clear to see that the Frenchman wanted to move elsewhere to push further up the grid.
Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi has also stated (on F1.com) that: "Pierre is completely aligned with the ambition and progression that has, to date, been a hallmark of the Alpine project."
