Eight years ago, Daniel Ricciardo managed to get his very first Formula One victory at the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit in Canada. That season, the Australian had made the switch from the then Toro Rosso to Red Bull Racing. In Montreal, Ricciardo repaid the confidence of the Austrian racing team in full.
His qualifying was not great. The driver from Perth recorded the sixth time, while teammate Sebastian Vettel was allowed to start from the third starting spot. He managed to stay ahead of Nico Rosberg in the dominant Mercedes after a nice overtake just before the Wall of Champions.
