Laurent Mekies introduces himself as new Red Bull Team Principal

Red Bull Racing has a new team principal and CEO in Laurent Mekies following the dismissal of Christian Horner. The Frenchman had been working at Red Bull as the team principal of Racing Bulls for a year and a half, but has now made the move to the main team of the Austrian energy drink.

In the video 'meet the new team principal of Red Bull Racing', Laurent Mekies not only introduced himself to the staff, but also to the fans of the team. Mekies started with a joke about his French accent, making it difficult for him, he says, to speak any other language.

In the rest of the video, Mekies talked extensively about who he is. He shared that he is married, has three children (all boys), and tries to stay grounded. Additionally, he talked about his background in mechanical engineering and also mentioned his former employers.

In Formula 1, Mekies previously worked for Minardi, which became Toro Rosso. Afterwards, Mekies worked for the FIA and Ferrari, before returning to Racing Bulls as team principal in 2024. A year and a half later, Mekies received the promotion to Red Bull Racing, where he faces the daunting task of succeeding Christian Horner.
