Daniel Ricciardo is in behind-the-scenes talks with Mercedes as well as Red Bull Racing, reports ESPN. Both teams are said to be interested in having him be their team's reserve driver next season, with it being unknown for now where the Australian's own preference lies.
The driver is due to make way for Oscar Piastri at McLaren at the end of the season. While Ricciardo failed to find a new Formula 1 team for 2023, he did receive several offers in other racing classes. For Ricciardo, however, it is clear that he wants to stay closely involved with Formula 1.
For Mercedes and Red Bull, Ricciardo's qualities are highly desirable. Indeed, they both decided to contact his management and sit down with the driver. A switch to the Austrian formation would mean a return to the team he raced for between 2014 and 2017.

Wolff previously confirmed the news

Toto Wolff also revealed during the Mexico Grand Prix that talks are underway between Mercedes and Ricciardo. According to the Austrian, the driver is additionally said to be in talks with several teams, including Red Bull. However, according to the medium, it is exclusively about the two top teams.
