There is still little certainty about what the driver line-ups will look like in 2026 at Red Bull Racing and Racing Bulls. A departure of Max Verstappen is still possible, and there could still be changes involving the other drivers. One of the drivers in F1, who is part of the Red Bull family, seems to be in a good position for a seat in Formula 1 next season.
It would be Liam Lawson. The New Zealand newspaper The Herald reports that there is a high likelihood that Red Bull will keep him in Formula 1 in 2026. Initially, this would involve a seat at Racing Bulls, where he is currently racing alongside Isack Hadjar. However, a move up to Red Bull Racing could also be among the options if Red Bull management choose him over Hadjar.

'Lawson, an option for Red Bull Racing'

Red Bull is also reportedly keen to have at least one experienced driver at Racing Bulls for 2026. Both Hadjar and Lawson will have at least one full season to their names after this season, making it obvious that one of them will remain with Red Bull Racing's sister team.
According to information obtained by GPblog, Hadjar is reportedly in pole position for the second seat at Red Bull Racing. Tsunoda is no longer an option for that seat.
Behind the scenes, Lawson is said to have played a huge role in the development of Racing Bulls' car. Also, the New Zealander has reportedly served as a mentor to Hadjar, who has just raced his first twelve Formula 1 races.

What will Verstappen go for in 2026: Mercedes or Red Bull?

Meanwhile, there is still much uncertainty over the driver line-up at Red Bull. Although Verstappen has a contract until 2028 and prefers to stay, there is still a chance he could move to Mercedes. GPblog understands that, with the departure of Horner, one of the Dutchman's and his entourage's wishes has been fulfilled. The other wish is for the performance to improve by 2026, so they can compete for the championship. If this is not the case, then there's a possibility that the four-time world champion might leave Red Bull.
