Lewis Hamilton's relationship with Ferrari race engineer Riccardo Adami has been a under scrutiny all season long, and its future seems to have been determined already. Since Hamilton's debut at Ferrari the awkward exchanges between the British driver and the Italian engineer have been under the magnifying glass, often dubbed as clumsy, out of sync and detatched, resulting often in the seven-time world champion reacting frustrated and angry.
Ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Hamilton had urged the Scuderia to make changes to his personal environment within the team, whether this meant reshuffling positions and roles, or a more serious measure was not clarified.
Although his position did remain fixed on the need to carry out these changes, hinting at a potential impasse should this condition not be met by Ferrari.
The future of Hamilton-Adami relationship determined
In Abu Dhabi the driver-engineer relationship would close the season as it had started it. After the race, Hamilton delivered an emotional message to the team. Instead of a response his words were met with silence.
After a few seconds, Hamilton voiced his frustration. Adami quickly returned to the conversation, apologising, thanking the Briton for the words and celebrating the opportunity to work with him.
A report by Autoracer.it states Adami will continue to serve as Hamilton's race engineer in the
F1 2026 season, despite speculation that he would face the axe ahead of the start of next year's campaign.
The reported decision to give the relationship another year is said to have been made during a post-season dinner off-track.
