Aston Martin have experienced a challenging campaign for much of 2025, and reports of team principal Andy Cowell being sacked have surfaced. But will the British engineer be fired by the Silverstone-based outfit?
Cowell, who joined the British green-coloured team as Head of High-Performance Powertrain, was appointed as team CEO in October 2024.
Ahead of the 2025 campaign, the 56-year-old was subsequently handed the reins as team principal alongside his CEO role, replacing Mike Krack, who moved to the Chief Trackside Officer position.

However, following the conclusion of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, where the Aston Martin team failed to record any points, reports from outlet Formula.hu surfaced stating that Cowell’s position with the team had become untenable, particularly with the departures of key figures, including Aerodynamics Director Eric Blandin. But could there be truth in this report about Cowell’s future with the team?

Aston Martin’s response to rumours on Cowell’s future

When asked by GPblog whether the continuity of its team principal is in jeopardy, Aston Martin, via its spokesperson, explained that the team will not be engaging in rumours or speculation but that the team’s focus remains fixed on maximising performance in the remaining races and preparing for 2026.
The 2025 campaign has unfolded in a challenging manner for Aston Martin, and points have proven to be few and far between. Fernando Alonso’s sixth place for the team at the Brazil Grand Prix Sprint was the most recent points-scoring finish recorded by the team in recent races.
