Christian Horner is said to have spoken with Lawrence Stroll last week, but the former Red Bull Racing team principal is reportedly not in the running for a similar role at Aston Martin, according to BBC Sport. Since his dismissal from Red Bull Racing, Horner has been looking for a new challenge in the sport. For a long time, he tried to acquire a minority stake in the Alpine
F1 team, but according to
GPblog's
information, he is not the only candidate for that, and a deal may even already be off the table.
The only alternative would then be Aston Martin, where there has been unrest for quite some time.
Adrian Newey is the team principal, essentially out of necessity after Andy Cowell was gently moved aside. The British designer is an interim solution and would prefer to get back to the drawing board as soon as possible.
Horner and Stroll in talks?
Aston Martin is therefore looking for a new team principal,
with Jonathan Wheatley reportedly seen as the ideal candidate. The Briton is currently the team principal of
Audi. Lawrence Stroll is said to have spoken with Horner, but that did not lead to a collaboration.
It is said that Adrian Newey is not keen on working with Horner again. Horner’s behavior was partly a reason for Newey to leave Red Bull Racing. Although their relationship has improved since then, Newey would not be open to a renewed collaboration.
As a result, more and more doors seem to be closing for Horner.
