Red Bull Racing is once again ahead of the competition after the weekend of celebrations in Qatar. All but one of the points were scored by
Max Verstappen, who secured his third world title during the sprint race. The only team to score more points was
McLaren, which is starting to pose a serious threat to Aston Martin in the constructors' championship standings.
In the sprint race, Verstappen had to settle for second place, but he made up for it by taking victory in the
Qatar Grand Prix. In doing so, he scored an almost nostalgic number of points: 33. Teammate
Sergio Perez took home just one point.
In terms of points, McLaren was the big winner of the weekend. On aggregate,
Oscar Piastri and
Lando Norris collected a whopping 47 points for the Woking-based team, leaving it just 11 points behind Aston Martin in the championship. Mercedes ran ahead of
Ferrari despite
Lewis Hamilton' s retirement thanks to
George Russell's fourth-place finish, helped by the fact that
Carlos Sainz could not make an appearance at the start of the race.
