Wolff: "We need to find the time to sit down and discuss it"

Neither Lewis Hamilton or Toto Wolff have signed a new contract with Mercedes. The driver and team boss simply don't have enough time to negotiate between the Grands Prix.

Not signed yet

"With the schedule, we don’t have time to sit down with Lewis and have a chat, and it is the same for my own contract," explains Wolff, quoted by The Telegraph. The teams barely have time to catch up after a race weekend due to the many double and triple headers that the 2020 season has seen.
"Things are happening in the background and are being negotiated, but it is not so simple because there is the shareholding and how we are continuing," the Austrian continues.

Question of time

"From the Daimler side and myself, we want to continue to work in the partnership we have, and for Lewis he wants to be in the quickest car. It seems obvious but we need to find the time to sit down and discuss it," concludes Wolff. So it seems to be just a matter of time before Hamilton signs a new contract with Mercedes.
