Toto Wolff confirms he wants Mercedes to focus on their own starts rather than worry about Ferrari's actions. Wolff has ordered his team to look at areas in which they can improve as he hails Ferrari starts as a strength.
His main driver Lewis Hamilton had already lost two places before the incident with Kimi Raikkonen at turn 3. The German team lost ground on Ferrari in the constructors' championship as Christian Horner believes Ferrari now have the benchmark engine.
"I think the first thing we need to understand is where can we improve and where can we engineer," Wolff told Formula 1.com.
"We need to find some performance in the race starts to avoid incidents like we saw. This is something we can change."
The Silver Arrows head to their home race next time out in Germany. This is the first part of a doubleheader which is followed by the summer break. Wolff admitted his team have plenty to think about and need to get to work before Ferrari pick up too many points.
"Yes, I would have loved for us to build a gap in Austria, Montreal and Silverstone because we lose some in Hungary and we lose some in Singapore. But we will look at it now and try to fight and score as many points as possible," Toto Wolff added.
