Toto Wolff witnessed the world champion coming into contact with the Ferrari driver. He noted similarities with, the now familiar images from years back, where Verstappen and Leclerc came into contact with each other while karting.

Wolff loves hard racing, but also believes there must be a limit

‘’It shouldn't happen that two cars hit each other at more than 300 kilometers per hour on the straight. You know, those two have known each other for a long time." Wolff said to the media including GPblog, referencing their long-standing rivalry dating back to karting days. The contact occurred as Verstappen attempted to squeeze past Leclerc down the main straight, drawing criticism from several teams over the aggressive driving.
"There is a video on YouTube showing them having the exact same discussion as today. That was in karting when they were 14. ‘He pushed me off the track. What is it? It was a racing incident.’ I don't know. It's something between those two, of course."

"I don't know if this is still under investigation or if Red Bull is going to do something about it. Maybe Charles will get a penalty. We are now on the edge. Also regarding hard racing, I think.’’
Ultimately, it was announced that neither driver would be penalized for the incident. Max Verstappen was previously penalized for the clash he had with George Russell. The Dutchman received a 10-second time penalty and 3 penalty points on his license, bringing him to a total of 11 points. Yesterday, the Dutchman has apologised on Instagram for the incident with Russell.
