Wolff realistic: 'Top two teams have considerable advantage'

Mercedes travels to Great Britain with a good feeling. The German team performed excellently in Canada and hopes to maintain this form at Silverstone, where it has performed well in recent years.
Whereas the German stable has suffered from porpoising from the start of the season, in Montreal it seemed that the problem was less of a problem. Lewis Hamilton, therefore, managed to secure third place, while George Russell crossed the finish line just behind his teammate.
"While we can be pleased with the flashes of speed that the W13 showed, there's still a mountain to climb," Wolff judged in Mercedes' press release. "A lot of work is needed to get to the front, but we have a clearer direction now. We're focused on finding more and more performance as the season progresses."

Wolff hopes for a surprise at Silverstone

Last season Mercedes managed two podium finishes in England with Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, but this season that chance seems to be a lot smaller. Ferrari and Red Bull Racing are the favourites to finish in the top three.

Wolff is also seriously considering that scenario, although he does not rule anything out. "We know the top two teams have a considerable advantage. Our challenge is to close that gap. Silverstone has been good to us in the past."
