Wolff: 'F1 teams given the freedom not to compete in Saudi Arabia'

Despite the threatening situation surrounding the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, Formula One, in consultation with the FIA and other stakeholders, has decided that the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix will go ahead as planned. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff added that F1 teams "may withdraw if they wish."

Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner has already hinted that the F1 teams did not have much say in the decision to go ahead with the race. He says he has faith in the organization and its assurances that everyone's safety is guaranteed.
Toto Wolff says that the teams "have been given the freedom not to participate in the Grand Prix" if they wish. This statement supports the suggestion that the decision was largely up to the organizers.
