Sports commentator Jake Humphrey suggested that Sky Sports may already have the perfect replacement for Martin Brundle in-house.
That name, according to the Englishman, is Jenson Button, who has already been working with Sky Sports for several years and has recently called time on his driving career for good.
The 2009 world champion made his first appearance as a pundit in 2018, before stepping into a commentary role with the British broadcaster from 2019 onwards - albeit not on a full-time basis - while still showcasing strong qualities behind the microphone.
Speaking on his social media channels, Humphrey explained why Button would be the perfect choice: “Jenson Button is the natural successor to Martin Brundle. Brilliant at calling the race, sharp with predictions and really gets not just what’s happened, but also what is about to happen. Great to listen to.
On the other hand, Brundle began his career with Sky Sports in 2012, having already built up experience with the BBC between 2009 and 2011. He went on to become a true paddock icon thanks to his famous grid walks, while also forming one of the most recognisable commentary duos alongside David Croft.

Brundle claims Verstappen's F1 exit threats have become 'boring'

He argued that the topic is starting to wear thin, suggesting Verstappen should either follow through on his intentions or stop revisiting the same narrative, emphasising that drivers need to maximise their time in the sport.
The former driver also underlined how quickly Formula 1 moves on, pointing to emerging talents such as Antonelli, Bearman and Lindblad as ready-made replacements capable of delivering strong performances at a fraction of the cost.
