Jonathan Wheatley's time at Red Bull Racing has come to an end. The Sporting Director has celebrated his departure from Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez's team after nineteen successful years with an Instagram post, thus closing the Red Bull Racing chapter of his career, before starting a new one at Stake F1 Team as team principal.
On his Instagram account Wheatley has shared message for the team, "Signing out on 19 wonderful years at Red Bull Racing. I have loved every moment, 122 race wins, 8 drivers championships, 6 constructors championships, 7 DHL pit stop championships and I don’t know how many FIA stewards enquiries! Leaving with so many fond memories of this extraordinary team."

Taking Verstappen to the stewards

Wheatley refers to the stewards in his text, as he was the man who had to accompany Verstappen whenever there was an investigation into the driver. Alongside Max Verstappen, he has visited the stewards more than once in recent years. Next season, Verstappen will, if necessary, have to make his way to the FIA stewards' offices with another Red Bull colleague.

Wheatley will join Stake F1 Team, which will later be Audi, in 2025 where a big challenge awaits him. The team managed to score just four points this past season. Ultimately, the soon to be German works team will hope to compete for podium spots under Wheatley's leadership.
