Max Verstappen scored zero points at the Austrian GP, after Kimi Antonelli bumped him out of the race on Lap 1. It is not the result the Dutchman would have hoped for, but there's a silver lining. Zero points for the drivers, with the Dutchman failing to score points in front of the 'Orange Army' and his team's home circuit.
Verstappen avoids penalty and therefore a possible suspension
Verstappen's crash was clearly not his fault, so he won't receive any penalty points for it.
Before the weekend, he was on the edge: one penalty point, and he would have been suspended.
Despite going home without points and having his first DNF after more than 400 days, after the Austrian GP, now two points will come off Verstappen's super license.
Until October, the defending world champion will have nine penalty points in total, giving him some room to work with during the upcoming weekends.
