Ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix, Lando Norris said it would be 'silly' to consider just him and Oscar Piastri fighting for the world title. One of the drivers the Briton named was Max Verstappen, and Red Bull can focus only on the Dutchman to succeed.
According to Piastri, having a single driver the team can prioritise has it's advantages and disadvantages as well.
"I mean it (focusing on a single driver) helps in some situations, yes. You don't have to balance both the strategies, you can put all the attention on Max, but at the same time, I've said before as well, I think Lando and I do gain something from having each other pushing," the Australian began to GPblog among others in the paddock.

'McLaren drivers can push each other'

"Max is obviously very experienced and very talented. But I do think that Lando and I have found some amount of lap time from having competitive teammates," Piastri continued.
Currently in terms of the drivers' standings, only three points separate the Australian and the British drivers. Verstappen trails Piastri by 25 points.
The McLaren driver also explained having Norris as his teammate can only improve him. "Of course, that comes with challenges as well, but ultimately we want to be fighting for a championship beating everyone on the grid. And if you've got someone there pushing you, then whilst it gives you some challenges at times as a team and as a driver, it also increases your level, which is ultimately what you want," he concluded.
