Max Verstappen enjoyed a very relaxed holiday knowing he enjoys a comfortable lead over title rival Charles Leclerc. As befits a winner, however, the Dutchman sees no reason to sit back.
With thirteen races completed and nine races to go, the 2022 Formula One season is well over halfway through. At the same time, anything can happen in the second half of the season and Verstappen is not interested in 'sitting back' or in which race weekend he might win the title.

Verstappen will not rest on his laurels

"It would be wrong to sit back or relax now. If that's the case, then it's time to quit. Because that would mean that I don't want it enough anymore," Verstappen stated in conversation with The Telegraph. Looking too far ahead is also out of the question. "There's absolutely no point in talking about that at the moment," replies Verstappen when asked where and when he might be able to secure his second world title.
The championship leader is fully focused on the present and winning races, and confirms that the entire Red Bull Racing team is of the same mind. "We are not here for third or second place," Verstappen said.
