Verstappen still reeling from Bahrain: 'Huge shame'

Max Verstappen hoped to start his Formula 1 season well, but due to problems with the fuel supply of his car he had to drop out early during the Bahrain Grand Prix. Nevertheless, he is confident that he will perform in Saudi Arabia.

As reigning world champion, the expectations prior to the race year were high, so the failure in Bahrain came as a hard blow to him. Red Bull Racing had just a few days to solve the problem and succeeded. It makes Verstappen feel confident in his car again.

"It's a huge shame that such small things cause you to drop out," he told Viaplay. "But it happened and now we just have to move on. It's a shame that we have zero points so far, but we are in a good position now. Nothing is lost yet, but we could have made it a little easier on ourselves."

Not Verstappen, but Sergio Perez will start the race on pole position in Saudi Arabia on Sunday night. The Mexican set an excellent qualifying and managed to keep Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz behind him. Verstappen will start the race in fourth place.
