Verstappen sees Red Bull struggling in Hungary: 'It was a difficult day'

Although Verstappen finished third in the first practice and fourth in the second, he was not entirely satisfied with the performance of his Red Bull.

During the second free practice Verstappen complained over the radio about the rear of his Red Bull, where he had no grip. He also complained about the seat in his car. The first practice was not flawless for the Dutchman either. There, he also complained about issues with downshifting.

Verstappen is running the ‘macarena wing’ on his Red Bull again this weekend. Despite encountering problems in both sessions, he seemed to be keeping pace with the front-runners in Hungary. In both practices Ferrari was dominant and set the fastest time on both occasions.

Prior to the weekend it became known that Red Bull brought several upgrades to the Hungaroring. For instance, the diffuser on the RB22 has been modified after Red Bull ‘took a look’ at the competition. In addition, the rear wing flaps have been adjusted; these should provide more stability and generate more downforce - something essential at the Hungaroring. After the first free practice, Pierre Waché spoke about Red Bull's ambition to deliver a win for Verstappen or Hadjar later this year.
