Verstappen sees Norris and McLaren approaching: 'We're going to see'

The first day at Zandvoort was solid for Max Verstappen. In the first free practice session, the Dutchman finished top of the timesheet. In the second session on Friday, Lando Norris finished ahead of Verstappen. Speaking to GPblog, the two-time and reigning world champion talks about his chances this weekend.

"I still feel good. I think the car has a lot of potential to have a good day Saturday, but we just need to fine-tune a few things, and I'm pretty confident that we can be ahead," Verstappen told reporters after the first two practice sessions in his home country.

The reigning world champion expects most of the opposition to come from the papaya-coloured team. Lando Norris finished first in the second free practice session. "I think they look quick on any tyre, so for sure, we know that in qualifying, especially a few teams, they can find us sometimes, and we'll find out Saturday," said the world championship leader.

Verstappen has managed to win 10 out of 12 races so far and already has a street-length lead over teammate Sergio Perez in the world championship. The Dutchman has also scored more points than Mercedes drivers George Russell and Lewis Hamilton put together.
