Max Verstappen stated that "we don't need to talk about that" after he was quizzed about his future at Red Bull Racing at the Austrian Grand Prix. The four-time world champion has a contract until 2028 with Red
Bull Racing. However, for almost two years now, constant speculation about his future with the Austrian team has also risen, and since the unrest within the team that occurred at the beginning of 2024, Verstappen
has been continually linked to a possible move.
During Thursday's press conference in Austria, it happened again, with a journalist asking the Dutchman the direct question if he would be driving for
Red Bull Racing in 2026.
‘’I've been asked that question before in my
life. I don't think we need to talk about that. Do you want me to repeat
what I said last year?’’, was the response from the 27-year-old.
Max Verstappen has been at Red Bull since the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix, winning on his debut. Since then, four world titles have come his way between 2021 and 2024.
Will Max Verstappen stay at Red Bull Racing?
A year ago, Max Verstappen was asked a similar
question, to which he then emphatically stated that he would
stay with Red Bull Racing.
However, that kind of clarity was missing this time. ‘’It's not really in my mind. I'm just trying to push the performance on the rack, and then we're looking ahead to next year.’’
It's no secret that Toto Wolff would like to bring Max Verstappen
to Mercedes, but that's not going to happen in 2026.
GPblog previously reported that Max Verstappen has decided not to make use of
his exit clause. There would not be a better alternative available.
