After the Japanese Grand Prix, Max Verstappen addressed the FIA. The Dutchman felt vindicated following Oliver Bearman’s massive crash at Suzuka, which resulted in an injury.
"It can be very dangerous. It looks like, whatever, moving under braking or moving, but it also happens when you have a quick acceleration. You can have a big crash", said the Red Bull Racing driver to the media after the race.
However, according to Verstappen, the problem does not mainly lie with the races. He believes the qualifying sessions must also be drastically changed.
"In qualifying, you don’t want to have this kind of lifting style, and there are a lot of other rules. It’s not only about lifting - there are also many other rules where you can’t go flat, you have to lift or not, like being close to flat and then putting in a lift. It’s all so confusing, and that’s not how it should be," said the four-time world champion.
"In qualifying, to go faster, you basically need to go slower. It's just not how it should be," he reiterated.

Asked about the next steps to improve safety in the short term, Verstappen replied: "If it's all about safety, it's easy to fix things. You can use safety for a lot of stuff. So maybe we should use the word safety for it."

Bearman injured after crash in Japan

Bearman crashed on lap 22 of the Japanese Grand Prix at the Spoon Curve. He was closing in on Colapinto, who suddenly lost a lot of speed because he had to recharge his battery. That forced the Haas driver to take evasive action.
He ended up on the grass, after which he could no longer control his car. He slammed into the wall at high speed.

The young driver then had to be supported by two marshals after stepping out of his car. Limping in great pain, he made his way to the back of the barrier, where he immediately sat down on the ground.
The Haas driver then visited the medical center, where it was determined that he had suffered a bruise to his right knee.
