Verstappen on Perez: "I signed the contract with him myself"

The arrival of Sergio Perez at Red Bull Racing means a new teammate for Max Verstappen. What does the Dutchman himself think? Does he agree with the decision, or would he have preferred to have Nico Hulkenberg next to him?

He answers that question during the press conference prior to the FIA Award Ceremony. "Checo is a good guy. He's good with the tires and he's intelligent, and that's going to make a difference".

He also indicates that nothing is going to change for him in terms of driving style. "When we were competitive this season, Mercedes could always use one car against us. But hopefully we can push each other."

As always, Verstappen is in for a joke. "I signed the contract with him myself. I kept the salary low", he laughs when asked if he was part of the talks with Perez.

"Yes, there were conversations. But it's Helmut, Christian and Dietrich who make the decisions. It's good to still have Alex as part of the team", says Verstappen.
