Max Verstappen is more than tired of speculation about his future. When, even during a Tag Heuer sponsor event, he is asked about his future, the Red Bull Racing driver reacts extremely irritated.
For weeks now, it has been the topic in Formula 1: Will Max Verstappen stay with Red Bull Racing or will he move elsewhere - with Mercedes being the most logical destination. It's certain; Verstappen would prefer to stay with Red Bull, but scenarios are emerging where the four-time world champion is considering a farewell.
Everywhere Verstappen goes, he is asked about it. Even during a sponsor event, where he joined in. When an interviewer asks him about all the speculations, annoyance is noticeable. "I don't care what is written or said. I know what I have: a contract with this team. That's what I am focusing on at the moment," Verstappen says.
Verstappen thought he would be closer to McLaren
That Verstappen and his Red Bull team are having such a tough time in '25, wasn't expected by Verstappen - he states as much. "Honestly, I had hoped we would be much more competitive."
"It's clear McLaren is ahead of us and we need to try to catch up, even though I am well aware that will be very difficult in a season like this, in which I think we have already lost too many points. We continue trying to improve the situation. At the end of the season, we will see where we stand," concludes Verstappen.
