The two McLaren drivers nearly made a mess of things at the end of the second free practice session at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
In a session dominated from start to finish by McLaren—just like in FP1—the two papaya-clad drivers came dangerously close to a major incident just minutes before the end of FP2.

Piastri and Norris almost make contact in FP2

As Oscar Piastri came flying down the straight at high speed, Lando Norris was just exiting the pit lane — but he clearly didn’t notice his teammate approaching fast on his left. Lando was forced to slam on the brakes just before Turn 1, and the two narrowly avoided a collision.
Fortunately, there were no consequences for either driver, as they managed to get through Turn 2 without any issues — though not without a serious scare and a completely unnecessary risk.
Aside from that moment, the session was thoroughly dominated by the papaya duo, with Norris topping the timesheets in 1:15.624, reaffirming his dominance at a circuit he clearly enjoys — the Hungaroring. Piastri followed in second, nearly three tenths adrift of his teammate.
Both drivers will likely get a stern talking-to from Andrea Stella, as the near-miss could have easily resulted in serious damage to both cars.
