The Sun: 'F1 must be quarantined for a race at Silverstone'

While Sky Sports previously reported that a proposal has been filed with Boris Johnson to make racing at Silverstone possible, The Sun reports that the government does not want to offer an exception to athletes.

Johnson previously announced that all foreign travelers are required to spend two weeks in quarantine. This is of course a problem for Formula 1, who after a quarantine week in Austria, want to go straight to Great Britain for two races on the Silverstone circuit. However, that doesn't seem to be possible.

According to The Sun, the Secretary of State for culture, media and sport, Oliver Dowdon, already agreed to the plan of Formula 1, but has been whistled back by the Ministry of health and the Council of Ministers. Only truck drivers with necessary supplies for the country should not be quarantined.

The travel restrictions would be a big problem for F1, which wants to put together a calendar in order to have as many races in a row as possible. A quarantine period of two weeks does not fit into those plans. The question now is whether Silverstone will be on the new calendar or whether Formula 1 will choose a different route.
