The wife of Red Bull’s now former CEO and team principal had predicted his dismissal before anyone else.
“I said they were gonna fire you”
- Geri HalliwellHorner’s wife had already seen it coming
In one of the episodes of the new season of the Netflix series Drive to Survive, released on 27 February, Horner was shown in a conversation with his wife Geri, during which she confirmed her husband’s suspicions.
“You thought it was gonna happen,” he said. “When we came back from that Austria race, I remember you sat on the bed one night and said ‘something really bad’s gonna happen.’”
At that point, Halliwell stepped in and bluntly predicted what was about to happen: “I said they were gonna fire you.”
Wolff’s brutally honest text to 'a**hole' Horner emerges after Red Bull axe
In the same episode of Drive to Survive season eight — centred on the departure of Red Bull’s now former team principal and CEO — Horner is shown reading on camera a private message exchange between himself and the Austrian, with the two exchanging a sporting goodbye.
He later replied to Wolff’s message by reflecting on the fierce rivalry that had defined their relationship over the years, while also underlining how Red Bull and Mercedes had effectively set the benchmark in
Formula 1 for much of the past 15 seasons.
