F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has hinted that the return of the Turkish Grand Prix could be edging closer.
“Turkey is not, let’s say, 100 percent confirmed. Stay tuned on Turkey, let me put it this way”

Is Turkish GP set for a return?

The Istanbul Park hosted nine Grands Prix between 2005 and 2011, including seven consecutive editions before the circuit dropped off the calendar from 2012 to 2019. It made a brief return in 2020 and 2021, stepping in as a replacement venue during the Covid-19 pandemic when several races were unable to take place.
Now, the Italian chief has urged fans and insiders alike to “stay tuned”, hinting that Turkey could once again be poised for a comeback on the Formula 1 calendar as early as next year.
“Turkey is not, let’s say, 100 percent confirmed. Stay tuned on Turkey, let me put it this way,” he said.

Domenicali also took the opportunity to respond to criticism directed at Formula 1 over the growing number of street circuits on the calendar, reiterating that the championship has no intention of expanding beyond 24 races per season.
“To answer to the people that were saying there were too many street races: The new one that are coming are tracks, not the street races. So once again, you know, we need to always remember prudency in comments.
“These are tracks with the heritage, with the great racing background, if I may say. And therefore this is, as I said, Turkey: stay tuned. Portugal is definitely there. Madrid is a semi-permanent track that is working to be ready this year. With regard to the numbers, I will stick with what we said is 24 and we will manage that number in order to keep eventual other alternation, if possible, in the future. But we want to stick with that number.”

Domenicali drops hint over potential major surprise for 2027 season

The Formula 1 CEO has suggested that a large-scale, joint launch event could make a comeback in 2027, echoing the F1 75 spectacle staged in London last year. Now, a similar “global launch” concept is being explored once again, although the project is still at an early stage.
Domenicali indicated that bringing every team together for a unified presentation could generate significant worldwide exposure, describing the previous edition as almost comparable to an additional race in terms of its global communication impact. However, he made clear that discussions are ongoing and no final decision has yet been taken.
