A recent clip from the upcoming season of Drive to Survive shows a conversation between Toto Wolff and Christian Horner following the latter’s dismissal last year. “I didn’t know what to say, because on one side you’ve been a real a***ole, but on the other hand, the sport will miss one of its main protagonists”
- Toto WolffIn an episode of the eighth season of the popular Netflix series, set for release on 27 February and centred on the departure of the now former Red Bull team principal and CEO, Horner reads out on camera a private exchange between himself and the Austrian, in which the two bid each other farewell — in a sporting sense.
“I didn’t know what to say, because on one side you’ve been a real a***ole, but on the other hand, the sport will miss one of its main protagonists,” Wolff commented. “Who should I fight? And ‘love to hate’, as you always said? Wolff and Horner have a combined 14 of the last 15 world championships. Not a bad points statistic.”
Horner later responded to Wolff’s message, highlighting the intense rivalry they shared over the years and pointing out how Red Bull and Mercedes had effectively dominated
Formula 1 across the past 15 seasons.
“I’ve loved locking horns with you all these years. So thank you for the rivalry, the competition and the needle. No one else even came close, as the statistics point out. I wish you all the best for the future. PS: You need a haircut.”

Horner faces ridicule from Zak Brown and Toto Wolff in critical moment
The opening episode of season eight, titled New Kids on the Track, centres on the F175 launch event — the large-scale showcase held last year in which all ten Formula 1 teams revealed their new liveries during a single evening.
One moment from the episode shows Christian Horner being heavily booed by the crowd inside London’s O2 Arena, with the former Red Bull team principal and CEO addressing the incident on camera. Both Zak Brown and Toto Wolff also feature in the episode, offering their own reactions to the wave of boos directed at their now former rival.
