Max Verstappen and George Russell have been handed the stewards’ verdict following their late collision at the Miami Grand Prix. The pair went wheel-to-wheel in the closing stages of the race before making contact as Russell attempted an overtake on the
Red Bull Racing driver. The incident saw Russell’s
Mercedes front wing clip Verstappen’s wheel, leaving the Briton with front wing damage. The stewards subsequently noted the clash and launched a review after the race.
Stewards rule on Verstappen-Russell incident
In their post-race decision, the stewards confirmed they had spoken to both drivers and their team representatives, while also reviewing positioning and marshalling system data, video footage, timing, telemetry, team radio, and in-car recordings.
They concluded that there was only minor contact between the cars at Turn 1. Both drivers described the moment as a minor racing incident, a view the stewards agreed with. As a result, no further action was taken.
Leclerc leads long list of Miami GP investigations
Meanwhile, Charles
Leclerc is at the centre of multiple investigations from the Miami Grand Prix. The Scuderia Ferrari driver is facing scrutiny over as many as three separate incidents. These include a clash with George Russell, driving a potentially unsafe car, and repeatedly exceeding track limits in the final lap of the race.
