Guenther Steiner was cheerful after Nico Hulkenberg put his Haas on the front row of the grid in Canada. Just in time before the red flag was waved for Oscar Piastri’s crash, the German has crossed the line, and beat everyone else on Saturday except for Max Verstappen.
Talking to Sky Sports after qualifying, Steiner said he was really nervous about when the red flag would be waved. "You know with the red light we passed the start finish line two seconds before the red came out and guess what I was doing up there. I mean waiting just that they put it out there at the red flag before we come to start finish line I would be quite upset about that."
Haas’ team principal also underlined that luck never happens without putting in hard work. "I was just looking, let’s get over this that he got over it. You know how it is if you work hard and then you get the luck a little bit," Steiner said.

Difficult day for Haas on Sunday

While the American team can be happy with Hulkenberg’s position on the grid, a lot of work will have to be done in the race, but Steiner hopes his team can reap the rewards. "It's not a strategy, we just need to get a decent race pace and then we can obviously when you start there you can keep people behind and some of the people will struggle to come forward as we saw in Barcelona it isn't easy anymore as it maybe was a few years ago."

The team principal also remained composed on what his team’s goal is for Sunday. "It's better to start from here but obviously we know after especially Barcelona for our race pace. It wasn't great to be soft on it but I think hopefully we can keep the car in the top 10 to get some points because that's always our objective, it's where we are."
