The FIA has announced the final starting grid for the Miami Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc will start from seventh position. Max Verstappen will start the race from ninth position, and his teammate Sergio Perez will start from pole position.

Leclerc crashes in Q3

There was doubt for a while whether Leclerc should start the race from the pit lane after his crash in qualifying. In the final qualifying session, the Monegasque went backwards into the wall, damaging his SF-23 considerably. Among other things, Ferrari replaced the Monegasque's gearbox, floor and rear wing, but this did not result in a penalty and so Leclerc will start from seventh position.

Costly mistake from Verstappen

Verstappen made a small mistake in Q3, forcing him to abort his first run. Due to Leclerc's crash, the Dutchman's mistake had major consequences, Verstappen was unable to set a time and therefore finished in ninth place. Perez, unlike Verstappen, did have a good first run, taking pole position. Red Bull Racing did replace the Mexican's fuel pump, this did not result in a penalty.
