Incumbent Cadillac F1 driver Sergio Perez is set to be welcomed back as the American team's ambassador at the 2025 Mexico City Grand Prix, according to reports. Perez, who is set to rejoin the grid in 2026 racing for
Cadillac alongside fellow
F1 race-winner Valtteri Bottas, is set to represent the General Motors backed team at the
Mexico City Grand Prix according to reports from Mexican journal
El Universal. In his new role Perez is expected to do interviews, attend media sessions and sign autographs in a bid by the American
F1 team to establish the brand's positioning among the Mexican fans.
Having been dropped by Red Bull Racing during the 2024 winter break following a hard fought yet ultimately dissapointing campaign, the Mexican driver was forced to spend a year on the sidelines, much to the dismay of his fans.
However, the countdown for Perez's return to the pinnacle of motorsports has effectively begun since
Cadillac's announcement that the Mexican, alongside the Finn, would spearhead the American team's
F1 debut season.
With this new update, though, the Mexican driver's ardent fans won't have to wait until next year to see their driver take part in a Grand Prix's proceedings.

Cadillac and Perez already hard at work on the 2026 F1 car
Cadillac recently announced that Perez alongside IndyCar champion Simon Pagenaud, former
F1 driver Pietro Fittipaldi and Corvette factory racer Charlie Eastman
are currently hard at work as they develop Cadillac's 2026 project in the simulator. On the other hand, Bottas is currently less involved with the project, given the fact that his commitment to Mercedes runs until the end of 2025,
leaving the Finn free to join Cadillac as of 1 January 2026.Check out GPblog's latest F1 Paddock Update now!
