Schumacher: ''McLaren can be a great project for Vettel''

Sebastian Vettel's contract is currently the talk of the town. According to La Gazetta dello Sport, the German would have refused a new proposal from Ferrari and that ensures that the rumor mill is running at full speed.

Ralf Schumacher himself never drove for Ferrari, but he did see his brother driving there. Ralf himself won six Grands Prix and was on the podium no less than 27 times. In his time before Williams Ralf made the most impression and sometimes he put the fire to his brother's shins.

''Last year was not an optimal season for Sebastian, but Ferrari is just going through a tricky phase and you have to make the most of it. A one-year contract should therefore not be a problem for Vettel. Certainly not at the time of this crisis", says Schumacher in conversation with Sky Sports.

However, there is now a possibility that Ferrari wants to opt for something different or perhaps Vettel himself. ''Does he want to drive for a championship or is he going to build something new. McLaren is currently working hard and could be a great project for Vettel. However, they are far from at the top. With the engine change in 2021 that's quite a risk and Vettel might be better off staying at Ferrari'', concludes Vettel.
