Porsche's former LMP1 chief, Andreas Seidl, is set to officially take up his role as McLaren's managing director on May 1. Carlos Sainz has said that Seidl is “hungry” and “fired up” to join the team. Sainz met Seidl at the Bahrain Grand Prix and believes that their relationship will be successful at McLaren.
“I did meet him at the Grand Prix [in Bahrain]," Sainz said to Crash.net. "I did get a chance to say hello and have our first conversation and I was happy to meet him.
“I could see he was impatient to join the team, which is something I like. I like seeing people fired up and ready to roll. It was fun having our first conversation.”
Siedl is joining McLaren to try and improve the teams on track performance and get McLaren back to the top of Formula 1.
“I saw he was very switched on, waiting to jump into the team as soon as possible but unfortunately there is this gardening period.

“I don’t need much more than to know he’s switched on and hungry to go.”
Siedl will hope that he is successful in getting McLaren's performance back on track. The team has not got on the podium in five years and Siedl will hope he can help the team achieve this goal.
