Russell on pole, Antonelli handed another recovery mission: Azerbaijan GP final grid locked in

The Brit start the Azerbaijan Grand Prix from pole position, with Charles Leclerc joining him on the front row for Ferrari. The Mercedes driver will also have the benefit of the relatively short distance between the starting grid and the first corner, meaning he will have less ground to cover before reaching Turn 1 and can potentially defend his position more effectively.

Oscar Piastri will start third alongside Isack Hadjar in fourth, with the Frenchman completing an excellent return to the grid after missing the previous three races. Hadjar immediately showed strong pace on his comeback, putting himself in a strong position at the front of the field and giving himself a great opportunity to fight for a podium result in Baku. Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton complete the first three rows.

Behind them, Pierre Gasly will start seventh for Alpine, just ahead of Max Verstappen in eighth, with the Dutchman surprisingly beaten by his team-mate in qualifying. Franco Colapinto will line up ninth, giving Alpine both cars inside the top ten, while Oliver Bearman completes the first five rows from tenth for Haas.

Liam Lawson starts 11th ahead of Alexander Albon in 12th, with Esteban Ocon taking 13th for Haas. Carlos Sainz will start 14th for Williams after being affected by a grid penalty, despite having qualified higher than his final starting position suggests.

Arvid Lindblad will start 15th for Racing Bulls, with Kimi Antonelli lining up immediately behind him in 16th. The championship leader therefore faces another major recovery drive after his unwanted Q1 crash, with a significant amount of ground to make up during the race. Gabriel Bortoleto starts 17th for Audi, followed by team-mate Nico Hulkenberg in 18th.

Valtteri Bottas will take 19th for Cadillac. Sergio Perez starts 20th after being handed a grid penalty, while Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will occupy 21st and 22nd respectively for Aston Martin. Both Aston Martin drivers have also been handed penalties, leaving them to start from the back of the grid once again.
