Ricciardo still hopes to win in 2022: 'Not another difficult season'

Daniel Ricciardo and McLaren did not get off to a great start in 2022. Despite that, the Australian hopes to win again this season with the British team. The most important thing for Ricciardo is that he at least does not experience another difficult season, as was the case last year.

Ricciardo did not have an ideal start of his 2022 season. In Bahrain and Saudi Arabia no points were scored. In his home race in Australia, he finally succeeded. The Aussie finished sixth behind teammate Lando Norris. Despite the difficult start, Ricciardo is determined to win again with McLaren: "Hopefully there will be two wins or more this year," he says in conversation with Sport Bild.

In 2021 Ricciardo surprisingly managed to win the Italian Grand Prix. Up until the moment of that race, the McLaren driver had a very difficult first year with the team from Woking. "Above all, I don't want to experience another difficult season like 2021. That was not an easy year despite the success at Monza."

For now, it seems a long way off before we see Ricciardo on the top step of the podium again. Both he and teammate Norris do not yet have the speed to compete with the Red Bulls and Ferraris.
