Renault CEO Francois Provost says Otro Capital brought no value to Alpine. He underlined that it will be important for the new minority stakeholder to share a common goal.
Otro Capital currently owns 24% of the Alpine F1 Team. Investors in the private equity firm include NFL stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, as well as Ryan Reynolds and Rory McIlroy, among others.
Otro Capital bought its stake in 2023, but is now looking to sell. Provost, Renault's CEO, was candid about how little the firm brought to the table. Speaking to The Race, he explained: "We manage the team. Otro has no right, and no added value, to help us to operate. So we are fully responsible.
"I think we are capable to assess together this. They want to sell, they will get the good benefits. They need our agreement to sell, and we'll do this maybe sooner or later, but from an operation standpoint, [there is] no impact, and this is for me the most important."
Until September, Renault can veto Otro Capital's sale of its shares to anyone it deems unsuitable. "For me, there is no urgency. There are two principles. The first one is Renault will keep the control. We do not intend to sell shares," Provost added.

"The second principle is, if ever Otro sells the shares, I want to be sure that with the new one we have some intimacy, common goal, and common interest. So it's why I'm not in a hurry."

Briatore opens door for Wolff and Horner to help breathe new life into Alpine

Speaking at the Monaco Grand Prix, Flavio Briatore said that he would be happy to work with both Toto Wolff and Christian Horner.
He then continued with explaining why Wolff and Mercedes pulled out of the deal. "Very easy. The price was too high. At one point, the guys build up the different price and I think… Toto was very fair. I believe it. I don’t think the Otro people are fair. Toto, in all the negotiations was very fair."

About Horner, he added: "We have a lot of negotiation around, different team, different people, including, at the time, it was including Christian. For me, whatever solution is found by Renault, I’m very happy to accept whatever solution is."

Horner addresses return rumors at Silverstone

At Silverstone, Horner was also asked about his future in the in Formula 1. He told Sky Sports: "There's so much speculation. One week it's Aston, the next is Alpine, the next is somewhere else. I wish them all well today.
"The main thing is F1 is in such a great place. The racing has been super this year, sitting back and watching it from behind the scenes. The interest in F1 is sky-high. There's so much interest for people who want to get involved in Formula 1, so we will see. I'm on no rush."
