Renault advise against "radical change in engine rules" in 2021

Even though time is running out on deciding rules for the 2021 rule changes, Renault team principal Cyril Abiteboul hopes that the changes won't be as "radical" as they are now.
Renault have proved to be the 'best of the rest' team this season behind the big three teams of Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull. Haas F1 are Renault's main competitors now, but the American team still lack the consistency to challenge the French team week in, week out.
When it comes to engines, Renault have just lost their biggest client in Red Bull. The Austrian team will be partnering up with Honda from next season on, ending a twelve-year relationship with the French. That is one reason why Renault now think that it's not necessary to change an awful lot in the new engine rules.
"The time keeps ticking," Abiteboul told Motorsport-total.
"It's no secret that the driving force behind the biggest engine change was the Red Bull Racing situation, as they wanted to offer new manufacturers a chance.

"Now that Honda and RBR are teaming up and no new manufacturers are stepping in, I don't see any reason why we should delay the process any more.
"We're behind on schedule," the Frenchman concluded.
