Red Bull the team to beat in 2025? 'F1 must take that combination very seriously'

Gary Anderson thinks that creative mind Adrian Newey is looking forward to Red Bull Racing's new developments. From 2025 they could start making their own engines.

"Newey and the others who will be involved in this project – and I’d be looking to bring in ex-Mercedes engine boss Andy Cowell – would be able to contribute directly to the new power unit specification", Anderson told The Race.

As Newey tries to put a size-12 foot in a size-10 shoe, Anderson sees the same thing happening with Red Bull's next generation of cars. "Gone are the days of simply doing the best deal you can with an engine manufacturer and bolting it to the back of your chassis", Anderson continued.

According to Anderson, having full input is every technical director's dream. "Adrian will thrive on that new-found freedom. A well-funded Red Bull engine project for the next-generation power unit with a revitalised Newey is a combination that F1 would have to take very seriously."
