Red Bull Racing made an adjustment to Max Verstappen’s car just before the start of the Canadian Grand Prix. This change will not warrant a grid penalty for the four-time F1 world champion. The change concerns the brake master cylinder. This is a component that builds brake pressure when the brake pedal is pressed. The modification falls within parc fermé rules, so the Dutchman will not receive a penalty from the FIA.
After qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix on Saturday, Verstappen was
not at all pleased with his RB22 and the way Red Bull Racing handled the situation. According to the Dutchman, he was given a setup that he already knew would not work. During qualifying, questions from Verstappen were then also ignored by the Austrian team.
Red Bull also made changes to Isack Hadjar’s car before the race. The team found it necessary to replace his right-rea pushrod gaiter, the power box carrier and cooling duct assembly
George Russell, the driver on
pole position for the Canadian Grand Prix, has also received an adjustment to his Mercedes. His left-rear inner brake duct drum has been replaced. For both Russell and Hadjar, the changes are also within FIA regulations, so no penalty follows.
Only Lance Stroll will have to start from the pit lane after adjustments by Aston Martin. The Silverstone-based team has already confirmed that they have made a strategic decision to replace the battery and complete several other changes to the car as well.
