Provisional Starting Grid Imola GP | Verstappen in P2, grid penalty issued

Verstappen just missed out on pole, but nevertheless has a good starting spot for the Formula 1 race on Sunday. Behind Piastri and Verstappen is Mercedes driver George Russell in P3, with McLaren driver Lando Norris alongside him.

Aston Martin managed to surprise with P5 and P8 for Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, respectively. Between them are Williams drivers Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon. Isack Hadjar and Pierre Gasly complete the top ten.

For Ferrari, Saturday in Imola ended in disappointment. Both Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton failed to reach Q3, so the Ferrari drivers will start their home race from eleventh and twelfth place.

Two drivers crashed during qualifying: Yuki Tsunoda and Franco Colapinto. The former will have to start from the back because of this, while Colapinto starts from P16 after receiving a one-place grid penalty for entering the fast lane of the pit lane when not allowed.
