Alain Prost is very satisfied with 2020 when he looks at the progress made by
Renault. The French brand just failed to beat
McLaren and
Racing Point in the battle for third place in the championship, but three podiums were taken by
Daniel Ricciardo and
Esteban Ocon.
Renault hadn't reached the podium since their return to F1 in 2016 until this season. Ricciardo finished third at the
Nurburgring and third in
Imola and Ocon added to that by finishing second in the Sakhir Grand Prix.
Satisfied heading into 2021
"It was very positive this year because, frankly, we did not expect to be so good. We hoped that we could finish fourth in the constructors' championship," Prost explained in
Le Figaro.
"It is especially interesting to see that so many little things on the car worked so well. This is good for us and it allows us to make a plan for 2021 and also for 2022. That is our main goal," concludes the four-time world champion.
