Last year's Monaco Grand Prix winner Daniel Ricciardo is happy with his qualifying performance in the Principality this year, as the Aussie put his Renault on P7 ahead of tomorrow's Grand Prix.
Last season, while still at Red Bull, Ricciardo topped every Free Practice, got pole position and then won the race, so it's clear the Circuit de Monaco suits the 29-year-old.
Leaving teammate Nico Hülkenberg behind in Q2, the seven-time Grand Prix winner beat everyone in midfield in Q3 except for Haas driver Kevin Magnussen, who squeezed out a little more for the American team as he will start from P6.
Still, Ricciardo is happy with his starting position, especially after the Free Practice struggles the team had.
"On Thursday if you said, 'Daniel, Saturday you qualify seventh' then you would've seen a big smile," he told Ziggo Sport.

"I have to be happy with that [getting P7]. We had work to do on Thursday. I think we made a step of that this morning but it still wasn't enough. We made some brave changes for qualifying."
"I feel like I delivered, that was good. From an engineering point of view I think the team did as well, made some good progress since Thursday so seventh is a nice reward."
