Esteban Ocon endured a turbulent ending to Canadian GP FP1 after crashing into the barriers and damaging his front wing, at a time when speculation surrounding his future is already continuing to grow.
At a time when speculation over his Formula 1 future is already intensifying, the Frenchman did himself no favours after crashing on his own in the closing stages of the first and only practice session of the weekend. The incident resulted in the loss of his front wing and triggered the third and final red flag of FP1 due to the large amount of debris left scattered across the track.
Ocon could at least take some consolation from finishing ahead of his teammate in FP1, with the Frenchman ending the session in 13th place while Oliver Bearman could manage only 19th, finishing ahead of just the two Cadillacs and Franco Colapinto, who effectively took no part in the session.

Ocon lashes out at F1 future rumours: ‘Complete bull***t, almost like bullying’

Speaking ahead of the Montréal weekend, Ocon had already been forced to address rumours surrounding his future at Haas after reports emerged suggesting his seat could be at risk for 2027, or even before the end of the current season.
The Frenchman strongly pushed back against the speculation while speaking to GPblog among other media, dismissing the stories as entirely fabricated and expressing disbelief at some of the claims being circulated. Ocon pointed out that one article had even incorrectly referred to Ayao Komatsu, while also falsely claiming the two had been involved in a major dispute in Miami.
“Honestly, complete bull***t., to be honest. It's unbelievable. I mean, we were just talking with Ayao just now. The article I saw was calling him Ryo Komatsu, which is quite funny. And they were even saying that we had a massive dispute in Miami. It's complete nonsense. Honestly, it's all fabricated and complete bull***t.

Reaffirming his commitment to the American team, Ocon stressed that he has known Komatsu for many years and insisted the relationship between the pair remains extremely strong. The Frenchman also made clear that his full focus remains on working with the team and delivering results throughout the remainder of the season.
“As I said, I came to this team for the reason that I know Ayao since so long. I got a great relationship with him. That's always been the case. There's nothing like what people have been saying going on. It's completely not true. I'm fully focused on what I have to do, the job I have to do with the team. You know, I'm fully on board with the team for the whole year.
