F1 Full Results | Antonelli sets stunning pace in Canada FP1 ahead of Russell, Hamilton P3

The first half of the session was a stop-start afair after two red flags were brought out. A hydraulics issue for Liam Lawson saw his Racing Bulls stop and track and cause the first stoppage, while a big crash for Alex Albon brought about the second red flag in 30 minutes of session time.

An extra 20 minutes were added to the session due to those red flags, and it was Antonelli and Russell who exchanged fastest times on the hard tyres in the first 40 minutes of on-track action.

However, on the soft tyres, Antonelli found an extra gear of speed over his teammate, showing he is the man to beat once again, with Russell a tenth behind the young Italian.

The rest of the grid was well behind the Mercedes pair, with Hamilton in P3 seven-tenths behind Antonell, while Charles Leclerc was almost a second behind in P4.

Max Verstappen and Lando Norris finished the session in P5 and P6, respectively, while Oscar Piastri finished with the seventh fastest time.

Arvid Lindblad was the best of the rest in P8, while Nico Hulkenberg and Fernando Alonso rounded out the top ten
