Lando Norris topped the second practice session ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix despite not driving in first practice. The British driver was replaced by rookie Alex Dunne, who performed admirably to set the fourth-quickest time.
Norris, therefore, missed an hour of running at the circuit with just 10 turns, but it is deceivingly difficult to put together a good lap time.
He has driven well at the
Red Bull Ring in the past, scoring his first podium in 2020 and another third place a year later.
McLaren have set the benchmark this year but Norris is under pressure to deliver after colliding with teammate Oscar Piastri in Canada.
Norris conceded to F1TV after FP2 that, despite setting the quickest time, he is slightly cautious, particularly as Red Bull and
Max Verstappen tend to find a lot of speed over the weekend.

Norris is adamant Verstappen will step forward
He said: "I think as a team, we seemed a bit more competitive. I think we definitely didn't look that good this morning. So I think we did move things in the right direction. I think as always, where we are very quick in FP2 at times, we've showed a bit more pace than some of the others.
"So I certainly think they're going to catch up. Max is not far behind and they normally improve a lot into Saturday. So, you know, I expect a good day tomorrow and I'm sure we'll improve on some things but it's not as easy as maybe it looked today.
"I think it’s still going to be tight tomorrow. It always is. There's no reason for it not to be and we'll work hard to make it as big of a gap as possible."
